Why the scheme exists
We need help from landlords in Peterborough to house homeless families.
For many low-income families, the cost of moving to private rented accommodation prevents them moving into a more long-term home. This is because the gap between local housing allowance grants and market rents has widened.
We work with private landlords to help local families access good quality private rented accommodation. We identify ways to bridge the financial gap.
What the scheme offers landlords
The Landlord Incentive Scheme is free of charge. It offers:
- Custom property matching service for landlord and tenant
- Facilitated viewings and meetings
- Where an applicant receives Universal Credit or Housing Benefit, we can arrange for the landlord to receive payment of the rental element from the beginning of the tenancy
Properties we are looking for
In return, we are looking for landlords with the following:
- Self-contained properties of all types and sizes. In particular, three and four bedroom properties
- Properties in a good state of repair with a well-maintained heating system
- A valid gas safety certificate from a Gas Safe registered installer
- A valid electricity safety certificate from an electrician registered with a Government approved body such as the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC)
- A valid energy performance certificate
- A 12 month fixed term assured shorthold tenancy
We welcome all approaches from landlords. We will assess each property on a case-by-case basis.
Private Sector Leasing Scheme
At present, we are not accepting any properties on to the PCC Leasing Scheme. All enquiries will be forwarded to the Private Rented Sector (PRS) Team to discuss alternative options.
